As part of The Color of Silence, join Rabbitlight and Nick Lesley for an evening of experimental sound performances that explore resonance, interruption, and the space between the ethereal and the physical.
Doors open at 6:00 p.m. Guests are invited to view the exhibition in the gallery before the performances begin at 7:00 p.m. in the Garden. Dress accordingly for the weather.
Rabbitlight is a musical duo consisting of Mónica Luz Camacho and Francisco Eme. The indie-electronic band is based in the San Diego/Tijuana border region, a fact reflected in their music, which features lyrics in both Spanish and English. Their self-titled debut album was released on September 8, 2015. Their second album, “Volátil,” was released in 2022, and they are currently working on their next album. Their sound combines immersive soundscapes, ethereal melodies, and a melancholic sensibility that shifts between the intimate and the atmospheric.
Nick Lesley is a San Diego-based musician and media artist whose performances blend improvised percussion, microphones, and electronic processing. Using the resonant bodies of drums as sound generators, he creates immersive compositions that shift between ghostly drones, subtle textures, and physical strikes. He has composed music for dance, film, and animation, collaborated with artists including David Grubbs, and performed in projects by Rhys Chatham, Boredoms, and The Nakatani Gong Orchestra. He is also the Executive Director of SPACE TIME, a nonprofit dedicated to presenting time-based art.
This free event is provided by Space 4 Art and sponsored by The Prebys Foundation. The Arts Ecosystem grant aims to bring more art funding to the San Diego Art Economy. The grant is part of the Prebys Foundation’s 2025 Emergency Arts Investment, which responds to significant challenges facing the region’s arts sector, including federal and state funding cuts, rising operational costs, and the need to preserve vital community spaces for creativity.
