The fourth exhibition in this series, The Color of Silence, is a group exhibition exploring the dynamic tension between silence and noise, using visual art, sound, and performance to examine how meaning is created through contrast.

Curated by Francisco Eme, the exhibition brings together immersive and interdisciplinary works that investigate silence not as emptiness, but as a powerful emotional and structural force— one that shapes rhythm, perception, and human experience.

Through monochromatic imagery, dark visual languages, and experimental sonic interventions, the exhibition invites viewers to reflect on the relationships between absence and presence, stillness and movement, contemplation and confrontation.

Curatorial Statement:

This exhibition delves into the intricate interplay between silence, noise, emptiness, and saturation. It aims to extend the notion of silence by opening up the possibility of its perception through the visual.

The Color of Silence proposes a visual language that is monochromatic and dark. On the other hand, it interacts with a sonic language that is more strident. Noise and silence unfold as mediums between viewer and artwork, arising from the dialogue between subtle relations of color and tone, space and non-space, absence and presence, and movement and stillness.

In the realm of sound composition and music, silence holds a profound significance and is often misconstrued. Without silence, all sounds would be perpetually playing, devoid of a beginning or end. Silence, as an abstract concept, lacks the ability to define itself. It can only be perceived in relation to ‘sound.’ Silence serves as a dividing, pausing, and grouping agent, enabling us to listen to sounds in a structured manner.  As a physical phenomenon, silence can only exist in the vacuum of space while it is impossible to achieve complete silence on Earth. But, silence as a concept is more than the absence of sound. It represents feelings and ideas such as peace, sadness, or death. 

The exhibition will be activated with sound performances by local musicians and noise artists, and engage in a dialogue with the visual artworks and their representation of silence and noise on June 6 and June 20.
