Space 4 Art is proud to present Unfolding Freedom, an exhibition celebrating the artwork and creative expression of individuals participating in healing-arts programming at the East Mesa Reentry Facility and Las Colinas Detention and Reentry Facility. Made possible through a $150,000 grant from the Prebys Foundation's Healing Through Arts and Nature initiative, this program brings opportunities for creative exploration, self-expression, and personal growth to individuals in detention and reentry settings.
Join us on Sunday, November 15, from 1–4 p.m. for the opening reception of Unfolding Freedom: Art as a Pathway to Healing, Growth, and Self-Discovery, featuring a panel discussion with lead artist Linda Litteral, assistant artist Yvette Roman, and a representative from the San Diego County Sheriff's Office, moderated by Ramel Wallace.
This event is free and open to the public.
"Art can give people a way to express what they cannot yet put into words." — Linda Litteral, Lead Artist
Through drawing and painting, participants have explored creative expression as a means of reflection, communication, and personal growth. This exhibition offers a glimpse into their experiences and the possibilities that emerge when people are given a safe, supportive space to create, share, and envision new beginnings.
