SD Union-Tribune: Give it a chance and you might love abstract art, too
By Lisa Deaderick
In a recent interview, curator Katie Ruiz reflects on her journey from confusion to appreciation of abstract and non-objective art, and how that evolution shaped Non-Objective Lessons, Space 4 Art’s current exhibition at Art Produce Gallery. The conversation highlights San Diego’s experimental abstract art scene and the quiet, contemplative works Ruiz selected to encourage viewers to slow down and engage more deeply.
“I realized that I started buying abstract art because it made me think— that’s the sign of a good artwork,” Ruiz observed.
