San Diego Visual Arts Network Art Resource Focus: Space 4 Art
Founded in response to the rising cost of living that was driving artists out of San Diego, Space 4 Art has spent more than a decade working toward a permanent, artist-centered Arts Center that resists displacement and supports creative livelihoods. Despite setbacks—from gentrification to the global pandemic—the organization has strengthened its artist community, expanded partnerships, and renewed momentum toward a wholly owned facility. The article explores how investing in artists is essential not only to a vibrant arts scene, but to healthy, inclusive economic growth across the region.
