Space 4 Art Presents Stand-Off, Stand-Still, Stand-Down
Art Produce Gallery, San Diego, CA — Space 4 Art presents Stand-Off, Stand-Still, Stand-Down, a solo exhibition by Bridget Rountree, exploring the dynamics of power within the context of climate instability, social justice, and non-anthropocentric experience. Opening March 13th at Art Produce Gallery in the Cooler Room and running through April 3, 2026.
The project is produced by Space 4 Art through a Prebys Foundation–funded initiative supporting innovative arts programming.
The exhibition uses collage to explore the dynamics of power within the context of climate instability, social justice, and non-anthropocentric experience. Through the juxtaposition of disparate images, spiritual references, and moments of unexpected beauty, it explores how we shift perspectives. Contemplative representations of form, color and environment invite empathy and reflection, urging a transformative response to our shared uncertainty and a deeper stewardship of life, both human and non-human, in this critical moment.
Bridget Rountree is an interdisciplinary artist working in a variety of mediums such as collage, painting, and performance. She is currently a resident artist at Space 4 Art in San Diego, CA. Her work often juxtaposes art historical references, creating visual narratives concerned with current environmental, social, and economic inequities.
She holds a B.A. in Literature from UC Berkeley and the College of Creative Studies at UC Santa Barbara. Over the past two decades, she has continued independent studies under mentors and artists Rose Shakinovsky and Claire Gavronsky (known collectively as rosenclaire) in both Italy and South Africa. She is co-founder of the puppet company Animal Cracker Conspiracy. Her work has been exhibited and or performed at the California Center for the Arts and Museum of Photographic Arts in San Diego, CA, the Museum of Contemporary Art, Santa Barbara, CA, and the Bristol Museum of Art, Bristol, RI. Recent grant awards include the Puffin Foundation, San Diego Foundation, and Jim Henson Foundation.
