The Tiny Homes Project is a collaboration between Space 4 Art and High Tech High Chula Vista. A group of ninth grade students are learning how to design and build tiny homes for local artists to keep art in San Diego by providing affordable housing that will ultimately become part of the permanent Space 4 Art on Market Street.
This unique project is an opportunity to get students working with their hands by using design software, power tools, and jogs to construct a full-scale livable house. This project is motivating students to get out of their comfort zones and pick up tools to build their STEAM skills. They are being introduced to new possibilities and encourages to pursue their careers in science, technology, engineering, and math. This is still a work-in-progress, and they need your help!
The end result of Phase One was a full-scale tiny home that serves as the prototype for Space 4 Art's permanent facility on Market Street. Space 4 Art will use the model to build additional live/work units that will be part of the new building.
