Come journey in the footsteps of the traveling puppeteers of the 17 and 1800's through the growing role that Czech puppetry came to play on the world stage, to the fall of the Iron Curtain and beyond into today's world renowned, innovative and experimental Czech Puppet Theatre.

With a PhD in Alternative and Puppet Theatre, Katerina will be giving an illustrated talk on the history of Czech Puppet Theatre from the 1700's to the present day. As just about every puppeteer knows, Czech puppetry has been a major influence on the art of puppetry around the world, and indeed, on theatre itself. The international organization of puppeteers (UNIMA) was founded in Prague in 1929, and the magazine, Loutkar (Puppeteer), which Katerina edits, will celebrate its 100th birthday in 2012. Katerina is bright, young, engaging and knowledgable. She will be giving this presentation at only two locations in the US: Here in San Diego, and at the National Puppetry Festival in Atlanta in July. Come welcome Katerina, and enjoy her presentation.
